I think I’d be interested in writing about pen-pals. I love how people can form friendships through letter writing, never having met. But it’s also more than pen-pals. I think back to the love letters we studied, and I remember two people falling in love, never having met. I forget their names, I think the woman’s name was Nora. They didn’t even really know what the other looked like, but they fell in love and when the man came home from war they were happily married for the rest of their lives.
I wouldn’t call them pen-pals, but the same thing happened to them where they formed a very deep connection purely by writing to each other. The ability of letters to connect people on such a deep level is one of the things that fascinates me most about them. I think once I figure out how to whittle down that sentence into a couple of words and articulate it better, that is what I will want my topic to be.
